Yes, that's right; the auditorium's new light bridge is standing on it's own! All the steel supports and braces have been installed and the light bridge is about complete. Finally, something to cross off the checklist.
At the moment though, a majority of the current work is going on in the catwalks. See that big black platform in the middle of this picture? The plywood platforms will be replaced with these steel ones. Currently plywood is being removed (including the handrails) to make way for these new steel pieces. Also, a new ladder to the catwalks has been installed in the electrical closet. There is a picture of the new ladder in the gallery below.
Also, a third scaffold was set up recently. Because the new house lights for the auditorium will be larger than the old ones were, workers have been widening the lighting openings to prepare for the installation of the new lights.
Holes were made by the fly system in preparation for the new loading bridge. The loading bridge will make it easier to add weight to the arbors: special systems attatched to the fly ropes that hold bricks. The bricks counterbalance lighting being hung over the stage by the fly system. The loading bridge will allow students to adjust weight on the arbors without having to let the rope all the way down to make adjustments. It saves another trip back up, too. Steel beams will be placed in these holes in the coming days.

And finally, there's this: a bird's nest that was found backstage; and it's partially made of wire! A worker was removing a shingle from the shop and came across it, with eggs, feather, and all. It just goes to show that you never know what you might find in our auditorium.
