While the webmaster was away... a lot happened!
Here's a recap of all the events spanning the gap between the 27th of June and
the 13th of July. All pictures in this entry were taken by Joseph Ferencie.
June 27th: Work on installing
the conduits begins. The floor is marked to plan out the removal of sections
of concrete. The conduit will eventually contain wires for power, sound,
lighting, video, and control wires. In addition, chunks of sloped concrete
were removed from the back of the house. Level concrete will replace it
for handicap seating. Three smoke hatches are installed above the stage.
These hatches will open to allow smoke to escape during a fire.
July 5th: Removal of the concrete began.
The first cut in the house roof was also made today for the new lighting
bridge.
July 6th: The opening in the roof is complete.
Work on the conduits continues.
July 12th: Steel pieces for the catwalks
and lighting bridge begin arriving. The new door for the men's dressing
room is torn open today, and new walls are set up as well. The walls will
close off the dimmer racks and the high-voltage transformer, making a safer
environment for both the men and the equipment.
July 13th: Pieces of the new lighting
bridge are lifted up into the catwalks. A new system for fly system, called
the loading bridge, is being installed. It will make weighting the ropes
easier and safer.
